venus rotates extremely slowly on her own axis in the opposite direction to most rotations in the solar system. her day is precisely two-thirds of an earth year, a musical fifth. this exactly harmonizes so that every time venus and earth kiss, venus does so with the same face looking at the earth. eight earth years equals, exactly, thirteen venus years, the five kisses between them crafting a perfect pentagon, carved out of space. the numbers 5, 8, and 13 belong to the fibonacci sequence, defining phi.

Re: this is cool
Very cool - I didn't know any of this. What's the relationship exactly between the fibonacci sequence and pi again? I know of fibonacci numbers of course, but never studied them too intently. I was always more interested in the golden ratio, which equals (1/2)*(1 + sqrt(5)). This is the solution to the equation G^2 = G + 1
The golden ratio is also easily visualised using a pentagon:

In this image, if you set the side length to 1, then the red line "a" has the length of the golden ratio, 1.618034..

Re: this is cool
Forgot to mention that all of the segments of the pentagon are related through factors of the golden ratio:
side length = green line = 1
red line = G
yellow line = 1/G = G - 1
blue line = 1/(G^2) = 2 - G
side length = green line = 1
red line = G
yellow line = 1/G = G - 1
blue line = 1/(G^2) = 2 - G

Re: this is cool
pi is different from phi. phi is the golden ratio/fibonacci. pi is how you figure out a circle.
pi is static. phi is dynamic.
pi is static. phi is dynamic.

it's very cool. it's just funny how they use words like "magic", "secret" , and "hidden" etc. but cool from a kids point of view, or to bring you back to one.

Re: this is cool
if it's rude then use it when applicable on someone rude. you might be defending some other third person most of the time anyway when doing so. they'd appreciate it and could most likely use a live example to go off of later when cornered by rudeness again.

Re: this is cool
hey wow, i meant the responsibility thing but in it's own way, not as a tie-in to irresponsible voltron in any way. just so you know.
haha. funny though.
but back on track. i totally get where you are coming from. there are a ton of examples or metaphors i can think of right now but shouldn't go on about anyway because this is something else all its own.
without getting into details or sharing common experiences with this, let me just offer what i have found is... if responsibility(for what you know or can see in contrast to where your peers are at) is the key, then RESTRAINT is the keychain.
it's like, an amish girl can be friends with a punk rock girl, but they both must accept the responsibilities and restraints required to be true friends. to not run into each others differences with so much bewilderment. so much shock and awe. but to rather show restraint in where they should hold back what they know the other is not so involved in or just to be true to what their differences are and to let them remain differences out of respect for each other(i.e.-to not constantly bring them up), rather than trying to convert one to the other, rather than doing the constant confusion and bewilderment over the obvious differences thingy.
you must be very clear more on what the real meaning of friendship is, and not to worry about being too clear on comparing lifestyles. when the differences are obvious enough, and people play confused, things go wrong somewhere eventually. maybe not between the two, but somewhere in the pipeline a leak will start to spew steam and call for attention.

Re: this is cool
"The study of human nature may be thought of as an art with many tools at its disposal, an art closely related to all the other arts, and relevant to them all. In literature and poetry, particularly, this is especially significant. Its primary aim must be to broaden our knowledge of human beings, that is to say, it must enable us all to become better, fuller, and finer people." -- Alfred Adler
